Tonight is the last night it's playing :( I saw it twice already and I want to go back to see again, but.. I'm poor and my mother wont let me pouts. This is the best cast! Aaron Berk and S.J. Wrote... I only got to see Hedwig once and hope the show will return to NY, preferably to Jane Street, that's the coolest auditorium in the city, with a bar and all. Hedwig brought out so many emotions in me, and I thought it was the most entertaining and intelligent show I've ever seen. So i first heard hedwig when my darling friend todd in toronto told me to buy the soundtrack and i thought why not. i went to dress circle (this wonderful musical shop in london) and i got the man who thinks i'm mad to play it to me and i just fell in love. the soundtrack is amazing. the passion, the energy, that goes into it is incredible. my friends are SO fed up with me playing 'origins of love' they may kill me. and now i found out it's coming to london. The film is being shot right now, here in the Toronto area. :) Honestly, I hardly know anything about the movie's production, except that (I think) John Cameron Mitchell is playing Hedwig and Andrea Martin (of SCTV fame) plays his mother. I only know this because I did some extra work on the set last week, so I decided to plug in the movie's name into a search engine ... lo and behold, this site came up. Unfortunately, I don't know much about the play except what I read here at the site, but having read about it, I really wish I could have seen the production while it was live. So, all you Hedwig junkies, rest assured the movie is definitely being made. ;)

MY MOTHER of all people, told me about this "Hedwig" event & I never had a chance to see it, but just recently I found the music from the show (& I have to say) I am sooooooo sorry for missing something I may never get to see. Wrote... I'm one of those New Yorkers who fail to take advantage of the great things, (i.e. "Hedwig") that are easily accessible, but I'm too lazy to walk or hail a cab. But when I heard that the show was unfortunately closing, I bought tix and saw it on April 7, Y2K. I regret that I waited so long to go because now all I want to do is see it again. Matt McGrath was Excellent. The music, finally heard live was an Incredible Experience. Thanks to John Cameron Mitchell whom I've loved since "The Secret Garden." I wait eagerly for the film. I hope that someone who reads this can help me out. I want to know the brand and color of lipstick, gloss, liner that Hedwig wore. Her lips were sparkling, as was her performance. Wrote... I was a late bloomer in hedwig land and was devirginized by Michael. I've seen the show with Michael both in NY and LA and even recently with some of the other hedwig's but what A treat to finally see JCM! Thursday's show was so much fun. JCM ad-libbed constantly and I guess as the writer of the show only he can really feel comfortable as an actor doing that so freely. For all you poor unfortunate Hed fans that couldnt get tickets, I'm sorry to tell you the show ROCKED. From the first minute JCM hit the stage the theatre was LOUD. It was a lot of fun to be there. It was a real "love fest" for Hed fans! JCM, told us that the picture of Stalin (or is it Lenin) looks like Mr. Magoo, he/she told Skshp (who by the way as an extra treat was played by Stephen!!) "FUCK YOU" during some exchange, he grunted and groaned every time she bent down to pick up her bud tall boy and generally complained about being out of shape/exhausted etc and sang special "on hold" music (anything you can do I can do better) when speaking with phillis stein on the serbian cell phone!... there was so many funny adlibs... I couldn't possibly remember them all! Maybe for those who werent able to be there, some of us can post our favorite moments from the 3 JCM shows?? anyway.... I hope the show continues, my girlfriend and I love the show and are serious "hed's!!!" "look what you've done.... you... gigalo!" you've turned me into a HED!!

Wrote... Saw the play saturday night for the first time. Enjoyed much of it, but left feeling something was missing. When I heard the CD I realized it was being able to understand the lyrics. I don't know what has happened to the music since the CD was produced but the band is now too loud, the vocals are often incomprehensible and much of the complex harmony is lost. At the end, the band encouraged us to wave, and few people did. Why? Because the music, as it is now, did not allow for involvement. This is good music with subtle lyrics that advance the story and deepen the emotions. It is not heavy metal. Listen to the CD. Bring it back. Sincerely, PG

I almost cried when I heard that it was closing, I know 2 years is a long time, but nothings long enough for hedwig. Wrote... I saw Hedwig on Saturday at the Henry Fonda Theatre in LA. I thought that Michael Cerveris was absolutely amazing in the role. He had everything necessary for the role. Even though the theatre isn't that big (like 150 seats) . . . the applause was soooo loud that it sounded like an 1800 seat theatre. As I left I saw people crying. He is sooo powerful in this role. As an aspiring actress, It is so unbelievable to see someone as talented as Kevin playing such a brilliant part. To james, wherever he is, you're music transcends genre or basic melodies. How great to see something with absolutely NO expectations and walk away from it a big fan. Turns out (I didn't know at the time) but I just happened to see someone other than J.C.M. in the starring role and he was so good I couldn't imagine anybody else doing it. Wrote... Saw the show Saturday night having never heard the soundtrack before experiencing it live---WOW! Loved it. Wrote... I saw Hedwig three times and i only saw Michael do the show. Three weeks ago we purchased tickets for the 11oclock show on sat.oct. 1st and we were told Alley would be doing the play. When we got there we saw the show was being done by DONOVAN, so we were a little disappointed but i wanted to see him do the play anyway, so it didnt matter. Now i am so glad that Alley couldnt do the play as DONOVAN was sooooooooooooo good that i was amazed to see how energetic and wonderful he was, he sure has us as fans now. I will definately go see him again. He has a great great voice and he did the part so good. I was and still am a fan of Michael but DONAVAN is the main HEDWIG now. I cant imagine anyone doing the part any better. We had a great time and i hope he can play other nights other than wednesdays, and if you did not see him yet,do go and see him he is GREAT.

Wrote... I saw "Hedwig" for the first time on Saturday, August 7, 1999, at 10:00pm. It just so happens that it was Michael Cerveris' final performance in New York. I only wish I had seen the show earlier, so that I could have come back to experience him again and again. Wrote... Since I first saw Hedwig on the Rosie O'Donnell Show I was interested in seeing more of the most underated Rock Diva in the world!!. Fantastic show. Wrote... In the same week when I first saw Hedwig last year, I also saw Rent... and I cound not believe how boring R was. A question: Will the Cheater be back in the show at all? Wrote... What brilliance! What campy farce! The tragedy of Hedwig's unfortunate fate should be celebrated as an "Everyman/woman" myth. Aren't we all a little bit Hedwig? The music of the show is so familiar, so universal and so inherent. I just saw the show last night for the first time. (4/24/99) I literally checked to see if my seatbelt was fastened during the opening number. Hedwig him/herself was divine and luscious on both accounts. The supporting cast were more than that. Any thoughts of releasing it on video? The masses need Hegwigian logic!
